Alfa Romeo 75 Body Work

I had thought the car was structurally fine. But just when I thought everything was back on track, some nasty corrosion has appeared on the inner wings. So it’s just failed its test
The main rust areas were at the back of the car. It has clearly suffered from some sort of boot leak in the past, and unfortunately this hasn’t been attended to. The result: rust *everywhere* in the boot, including the wheel arches, light apertures, boot floor, bumper mounts, etc, etc. Just in front of the rear wheel arches was also bad – can you believe Alfa Romeo actually put sponge in here? The ultimate water trap…
Following a major blitz with with the MIG welder, the car is now water-tight and looking very sound. Even the wheel arches have repaired well. Following some minor paint work, and a good T-Cut and Mer polish, the car finally looks smart again. Copious quantities of Waxoyl should help keep it that way…
If your car has the bodykit, then it’s a good idea to check the fastenings around the wheelarches. The little brackets seem to rust very quickly, and can cause the wing to corrode if it’s not fixed.
