Alfa 75 Rear Wheel Bearings

The rear wheel bearing is a non-adjustable double-roller contained in a single unit. Simple enough? Yes, but changing it is exceptionally difficult. If you don’t believe me, consider the following:
The hub nut is tightened to 136 ft-lb. And it’s left-hand thread on the left hand side. So if some idiot has tried to remove the nut anticlockwise using what looks like a chisel (!) then you’re knackered before you start.
If you can get the hub off, you’ll find the bearing is held in place with a RING NUT that is tightened to 130 ft-lb (LH-thread on the left). This nut often needs a windy chisel to shift it, so make sure you buy a new nut as well as a bearing.
Finally, you should be able to extract the bearing with a puller. Provided it’s not seized in the housing, in which case allow for a new set of pullers as well.
“Reassembly is the reverse of removal”. But how the hell you tighten the ring nut to the correct torque is beyond me. I left it all to the dealer…
